RED SHIELD COMMUNITY CENTER WINS
READER'S DIGEST GOOD FOOD GARDEN

The Salvation Army Red Shield Community Center has won a Reader’s Digest Good Food Garden.  The community center entered the competition several months ago and were voted as winners by the magazine’s readers.

For many families, fresh fruits and vegetables are too expensive to be a regular part of their diet. Good Food Gardens are nutrition-teaching tools that provide kids with access to the healthy food they need to live active, productive lives.  The garden will be tended by the community center staff and children involved in The Salvation Army’s programs.  Anyone who helps work the garden will receive food harvested.

Reader’s Digest, Share our Strength and the Food Network sponsor the creation of five new edible Good Food Gardens in schools non-profit organizations around the country.

To find out how you can support The Salvation Army’s program, call 884-1044 or e-mail.
